47 weeks

James was 47 weeks old this past Thursday. We finally have a picture of him showing off all his teeth:

We suspect that he is working on yet another tooth to join his first 8 -- lots of drooling, gnawing, and general crabbiness tonight. We had a sad little James-o-saurus on our hands.

Fortunately, a bath and story time and medicine made it all better

46 weeks

James was 46 weeks old this past Thursday. He taught himself a new trick recently: how to take off his pants, unsnap his onesie, and almost take off his diaper while he is supposed to be taking a nap. What a sneaky boy!

He has been sleeping really well these past couple of weeks and we've gotten into a very consistent routine: bath at 6:30, then stories, snack, and songs for a bedtime between 7 and 7:30. He'll sleep for 11 hours or so before wanting to get up. That's a nice schedule for us since it gives us a few hours in the evening plus no waking up at night! Let's hope he keeps this up for a while.

This evening, it was sunny and warm so we spent some time outside before dinner. James enjoyed playing with leaves and grass.

Something that James has been doing a lot lately is growling. It's pretty funny to hear this smiley little boy growl... and growl and growl. He thinks it is funny, too. So here he is, mid-growl and showing off his bottom four teeth:
He's so fierce!

45 weeks

James was 45 weeks old this past Thursday. While his new tooth no longer seems to be bothering him, he has come down with a runny nose. Poor little boy is all sniffly and congested. We have been using vapor rub and a humidifier at night and Aaron is making up a saline solution. He still seems in good spirits, playing and exploring and babbling away. And it hasn't affected his sleep at all, and we are all thankful for that!

In honor of the first Vikings game of the season, James wanted to show off his team spirit.

No fumbling, James!

44 weeks

James was 44 weeks old this past Thursday. He has been working hard on a new tooth this week, which has caused quite a bit of discomfort. His gums were even bleeding earlier this week, but the worst seems to be over and there is now a new tooth poking through.

He's getting much better at feeding himself and will now put the food in his mouth rather than throwing it on the floor. This certainly doesn't mean that he's neat about it, but at least he is starting to get the hang of eating.

Here are a few pictures of James exploring the living room. No nook or cranny is safe from his busy little fingers:

summer fun

With the end of summer quickly approaching, there were still a few summer activities that we wanted to fit in. Last weekend, with temperatures still in the 90s, James had a play date with buddy Lila, most of which was spent splashing in the pool. The little ones loved it and the moms were happy to keep the babies occupied for 2+ hours on a hot afternoon.

And this weekend was completely the opposite, weather-wise. Cool, crisp nights and sunny, not-humid days. Perfect for going to the state fair. James was happy to sit in his new carrier:

We first visited the animals before the barns got too crowded and hot. James seemed a little overwhelmed by all the sights and sounds, but he finally decided that this goat seemed approachable:
He really wanted to pull on the ears, but settled for just petting. I'm sure the goat was relieved. After sampling foods on sticks, we checked out some of our favorite places: the Ag building, the Miracle of Birth center, and the Eco building. James was worn out already and it was barely 10 am.
A successful day at the fair!
