James at play

It can be exhausting to watch James play. He is such a busy, curious, determined little boy.

Blocks, books, socks. All good toys, especially in James' busy little hands.

snow day

So much for spring-like weather. We received another 13+ inches of snow over the last two days. Aaron unfortunately did not get the snow day that he was hoping for, but I had the day off to spend with James. We stacked blocks, moved hats and mittens around the living room, and read stories:

After Aaron got home from school, we all bundled up and ventured outside.
We took a trip around the block and then down a slight hill. Wheee!
By far, the best part of the snowstorm was pulling James around in his sled.
The second-best part of the day was coming inside for hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies. Yes, it's still winter but I wouldn't mind more days like today.

silly boy

It has been a busy few weeks for James. He was sidelined with a few illnesses earlier in the month - minor ear infection, fever, sore throat, and who knows what else. He definitely wasn't himself and favorite foods and toys did little to comfort him. Fortunately, his grandma was visiting so he got lots of stories and cuddles.

He finally perked up at the end of last week and has been going strong ever since. One of his favorite activities is sorting. A basketful of laundry presents a great opportunity for him:

Sort. Stack.
Such a good little helper!
He has always been interested in Amelie, but lately he has begun to chase her. Here she is enjoying one of her few toddler-free moments. Poor cat.
James has also developed quite a silly side. He likes doing things backwards or wrong on purpose -- pretending to drink out of his sippy cup upside-down, putting the wrong end of the toothbrush in his mouth. He also likes to crawl under the table and "hide" at the mention of: bath time, bed time, nap time, or diaper-changing time.

He thinks he is pretty funny.
I told him to "be upside-down." This was his reaction:
He's a constant source of entertainment, especially now that he's over his various illnesses. Silly boy.

15 month check up

This week, James had his 15 month check up. There were a few traumatic moments when he got his shots, but otherwise he did well. He is now 21.5 lbs and 31 inches tall. His doctor did mention that he has a bit of an ear infection so we have an appointment to come back in a few weeks and have his ears checked. He didn't have any symptoms, though, so we just need to keep an eye on things. He has seemed a bit more clingy and easily frustrated lately but he is also working on many teeth and learning new skills. There's a lot going on in his life!

This is the face I got when I asked him to smile. If you look hard enough, you might be able to see all the new teeth.

Despite teeth and ear issues, he's still a pretty happy little boy!
