new tricks

James has mastered a few new tricks these past couple of weeks. He's taken his first tentative steps, so technically he is walking, although crawling is by far a faster and more efficient mode of transportation. He will only take one or two steps at a time before dropping down to his knees, but it's a start. I'm glad he's not running around the living room on his own quite yet!

He has also learned how to clap and how to wave bye-bye. Peek-a-boo every once in a while, too -- when he feels like it. And every morning, Aaron will ask him where socks and shoes go and James will grab his feet. He's also started saying mama on a regular basis. Nana (banana) is still his favorite, though.

With these cold, snowy days, we have spent a lot of time inside. Reading books is a popular activity... especially when it is a certain chemistry book:
He's still in the process of mastering the xylophone. It might be a long process.
He's always on the lookout for the next thing to get into...
... or someone to give him a hug. Daddies are pretty good for that.
He still loves playing with his blocks. Stacking, unstacking, sorting, hiding.
Eating.

We are looking forward to a 3-day weekend together. James has an afternoon play date so hopefully he'll get a nap in before then!
